You'll recognise this programme – Technician to Advisor – but we've adapted it specifically for your team members and added in Collaborative Advisory for Teams.
While the core principles remain the same, the learning has been tailored to reflect their role within your practice, focusing on developing the confidence, communication skills and commercial thinking they'll need as valued members of your advisory team.
The programme is delivered across five practical phases, with each stage building the confidence and capability needed to become a trusted member of your advisory team.
Team members begin by recognising the technician trap and understanding the shift from reactive, task-focused work to a more proactive advisory mindset. They develop greater confidence in their value and start to see how their technical expertise can support more meaningful client outcomes.
Team members learn how to move beyond simply reporting financial information. They develop the ability to interpret what the numbers mean, communicate insights and suggestions clearly, ask better questions and contribute more confidently to advisory conversations.
Clients need to understand the value of advisory before they invest in it.
This phase will help your team confidently present your advisory services, communicate the outcomes you deliver and structure client conversations that naturally lead to advisory engagements. They'll also develop the confidence to discuss value and pricing in a way that feels professional and authentic.
Team members learn how effective advisory sessions are prepared, structured and facilitated. They develop the skills to manage client discussions, handle pushback, support decision-making and maintain accountability after the meeting.
This phase helps team members build confidence and credibility as advisors. They learn how to use case studies, webinars, workshops and group sessions to share their expertise, demonstrate value and contribute to the wider authority of the practice.
Develop the skills, confidence and mindset to move beyond technical work and become a trusted advisor within your team. Learn how to coach clients through change, work collaboratively with colleagues, communicate with confidence and handle challenging client conversations professionally.

Watching training is not the same as changing the way a firm operates.
The mentorship combines flexible learning with live support so that you can understand the principles, apply them in your own practice and build them into the way your team works.

A membership gives you access to content and resources to work through at your own pace. A mentorship combines those resources with a structured learning pathway, live workshops, practical implementation, expert guidance and ongoing support to help you apply what you learn and achieve real results. At APX, we focus on transformation, not just access.
No. The pathway supports people moving from technical delivery into advisory, as well as established advisors who now need to build capability across a team.
Yes. The practice owner or leader completes the programme first to understand and implement the APX methodology. Team members then join and follow the learning pathways relevant to their role.
You attend weekly live implementation workshops designed to help you work through the APX pathway, apply the learning and maintain momentum. Replays are available when you cannot attend live.
Cohorts are planned for:
September to November
February to April
May to July
Yes.. You'll have access to the full Programme and learning library, monthly Financial Strategy Sessions, community, Polly AI Coach and all resources. The live cohorts are designed to accelerate implementation, but the mentorship and support continue all year round.
Each month focuses on one practical financial strategy. You’ll complete the e-learning, attend a live workshop, implement the strategy and submit a case study to demonstrate your understanding. Successful completion earns you the relevant APX badge, certificate or accreditation.
Polly is the APX AI learning coach. She is trained around the APX methodology and can help you explore your learning, think through questions and prepare for implementation. She does not replace professional judgement or the live support available through APX.
It is a collection of client-facing business education courses that firms can make available to their clients. The library helps clients understand key business concepts, supports advisory conversations and reduces the need to answer the same foundational questions repeatedly.
The mentorship has an initial 12-month commitment. After that, it continues on a month-to-month basis.
Cohorts are three times a year and you are free to join any of these whilst your subscription is active. Replays are made available through the APX portal.
